Hello, I am Sophie

A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far larger.
The initial months were challenging — fresh systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more tangled than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Plain Horizon Arc
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Netherlands.
